London Restaurant Photography Case Study: Norma

March 09, 2025

Photography Brief

The marketing team at Norma reached out to me, with the food photography brief of capturing food images of their new menu, cocktails, and team photos.

Norma is a modern Sicilian restaurant based in Central London. The restaurant is owned by the Stafford Collection as part of a wider business portfolio.

“Norma is part of the prestigious Stafford Collection, an independently owned luxury portfolio of beautiful properties in distinct locations in the UK.  These elegant Hotels and Award-Winning Restaurants offer sophisticated, self-assured guests the discreet luxury and anticipatory Experiences they seek, in a warm and authentic atmosphere that is dedicated to continuous innovation and the highest standards of service and hospitality.”

Photoshoot Execution

It all started with an arranged call with the marketing team at Norma. The brief was to create new brighter images, compared to the previous ones the restaurant already had, for their social media and website. Still keeping in line with the brand’s style.

The marketing team requested a half day session for a test shoot, to explore new ideas. The photoshoot list included a variety of images, from a single dish on a table, to a group shot of multiple dishes and drinks for their Bottomless Brunch campaign, and drinks.

As part of my services as a food photographer in London I always shoot tethered on location, that means clients can see the results immediately on a large screen and there are no surprises. I can tweak focus, lighting, composition, colour and sharpness immediately and work at the result with much more control.

During the first photoshoot I used a studio lighting with a large diffuser, but as we progressed our collaboration we went on using natural lighting too for the following photoshoots, for a more natural feeling.

Norma restaurant have been delighted with the photography and we have since worked on many more photoshoots together. If you’d like to see similar results for your own restaurant, please get in touch below.
